does the dura-kote plating on this fitting hold up in wet or dirty environments, or is that more of a light-duty thing?

Corrosion resistance is actually the main selling point of that plating. Carbon steel on its own would be vulnerable in harsh or high-moisture conditions, but the Dura-Kote finish is specifically there to address that. It's built for demanding industrial environments where exposure to the elements or contaminants is just part of the job.
