fitting says it's got Dura-Kote plating on it, what does that actually do for me out in the field?

Corrosion is the main enemy of hose fittings in most working environments, and the Dura-Kote plating on this one puts up a solid fight against it. Carbon steel fittings without a quality coating can rust out faster than you'd expect, especially when they're exposed to moisture, road spray, or harsh fluids.
