does the carbon steel body on this fitting hold up decent against rust and corrosion, or is that gonna be a concern out in the elements?

Carbon steel fittings can be vulnerable to corrosion on their own, but this one carries Dura-Kote plating specifically to address that. It's a surface treatment Eaton Aeroquip applies to give the fitting better corrosion resistance than bare steel would offer. For outdoor or wet environments, that plating makes a real difference in how long the assembly holds up before showing wear.
