Does this fitting have any kind of corrosion protection built in, or is that something you gotta add on yourself?

Corrosion protection is already built right into it. The fitting comes with Dura-Kote plating applied from the factory, so there's no additional coating or treatment needed on your end. That plating is a big part of why this fitting holds up well in rough industrial environments where moisture and exposure are a regular concern.
