what kind of coating does this flange half have on it, and is it gonna hold up in a wet or dirty environment?

Dura-Kote plating is what Eaton Aeroquip puts on these adapters, and it's specifically there for corrosion resistance. If you're running equipment in conditions where moisture, grime, or general exposure are a concern, that plating is doing real work for you. The ductile iron construction underneath it is also a solid choice for industrial environments where things take a beating.
