fitting's got a 1-inch barb on one end, does the pipe side run 3/4-inch NPT or something different?

The pipe end is a 3/4-14 Male NPTF thread, which is close to standard NPT but built to a tighter tolerance spec under SAE J476. That thread form makes a mechanical pressure seal on its own, so you're not depending entirely on tape or sealant to hold pressure. The barb side is sized for 1-inch OD hose. Both ends are fixed in a straight configuration, so there's no angle or bend in this fitting.

got a 1 inch hose and need to screw into 3/4 npt, is that what this fitting does?
