pump's got a listed width of 5.75 inches, does that hold true on both sides or just one face of the housing?

That's the full dimension you'd be working with when fitting this into a machine bay or comparing it against your existing envelope constraints. Worth accounting for that full measurement when you're checking clearances on a tight install.
