got a mini excavator and a crawler dozer both needing pump work done, this the same unit that fits both them machines or is it application-specific?

Both of those are right in the wheelhouse for this pump. The X20 420 Series is built around mobile equipment with variable and intermittent demand, and mini excavators along with crawler dozers are both listed applications. Whether it fits your specific setup comes down to your circuit configuration and mounting requirements, but from an application standpoint, you're not forcing a square peg into a round hole with either machine.
