Is this Eaton pump a direct swap for the older Char-Lynn versions?

this Danfoss/Eaton X20 pump is the updated version of the Char-Lynn models, so it should be a direct replacement.

What all can this pump be used on? Got a loader backhoe and a mini excavator on the farm and tryin to figure out if one pump could work across both machines.

Loader backhoes and mini excavators are both listed applications for this pump, so you're in good shape there. The X20 series covers a pretty wide range of mobile equipment including ag tractors, crawler dozers, rough terrain forklifts, and a handful of other machines. It's built for demanding mobile hydraulic work, so running it on either of those pieces of equipment fits squarely within what it was made for.
