pump's got aluminum housing, does that hold up alright on a skid steer running hard all day, or is that gonna be a weak point?

Aluminum housings on mobile piston pumps like this one are pretty standard for skid steer applications. The weight savings matter a lot on that kind of equipment, and the tradeoff in strength is engineered for, not ignored. The PVE Series was built with mobile duty in mind, so the housing material is matched to the demands of that environment. You're not looking at a compromise part here.
