pump's got an aluminum housing, does that hold up alright in mobile equipment or is it gonna be a weak point out in the field?

Aluminum housing on a piston pump like this is actually a pretty deliberate tradeoff. You shed weight compared to cast iron, which matters a lot on skid steers where every pound affects how the machine handles and how hard the drive system works. The tradeoff in strength is accounted for in the design, so it's not a fragile setup by any means. For mobile applications like skid steer loaders and irrigation equipment, keeping system weight down without losing structural reliability is exactly what that housing choice is meant to deliver.
