runs on 24/29 volt DC systems -- is this coil already set up to handle that without needing an external rectifier?

the internal rectification is built right into the coil itself. You feed it AC power at the right voltage and it handles the conversion on its own. No separate rectifier box needed, which keeps the install cleaner and cuts down on extra components in the circuit.
