On access platforms, a common use for the 3CP2 style cartridge is letting a small regulated flow pass when the hand knob is depressed, so you can lower a boom during a power failure.

Pulling the hand knob is what gets this valve moving. When you depress or pull that knob, a small regulated flow passes through the 1.5 mm orifice, which gives you right around 4 GPM. That flow rate is exactly what makes it practical for controlled boom lowering during a power failure on an access platform. The cartridge fits a cavity size A879 housing, sold separately, so make sure you've got the right housing on hand before you go to install it.

A typical use would be on an access platform to lower the boom if the power goes out. You'll also find these on harvesters and refuse haulers, and in other mobile and industrial applications.
