does this valve handle 3/8 inch NPT connections on both ends, or just one side?

Both ports are 3/8 NPT female, so you're getting a female-to-female setup on each end. The orifice runs 0.31 inches through the center, and the whole thing is rated to 450 PSI WOG with a max temperature of 200 degrees F. Brass body, brass ball and stem, so it holds up well in pneumatic control applications where you need consistent shutoff.

got a little air setup in the shop. are the ends on this valve 3/8 npt female on both sides?

Both ports are 3/8 NPT female, so it is a female x female valve for 3/8 NPT threaded connections.
