what's the difference between the NAB and MIP ends on this tee, and which side connects where in a branch setup?
Question by: Sherry M on Aug 22, 2025, 1:19 PM
The 1/2 inch NAB end is your run connection, meaning it ties into the main line. The 1/4 inch MIP end is the branch outlet, which threads into a port or fitting on a secondary line. NAB stands for National Association of Broadcasters... just kidding. It's a pipe thread standard used in hydraulic fittings, and MIP means Male Iron Pipe, so that 1/4 inch end has external threads that screw into a female-threaded port. Pretty straightforward once you match your port sizes on both ends.
