got a couple 5/16 hoses i need to join up, is this the right kind of fitting for that

For 5/16-inch hose, this is the right size. Midland Industries makes this splicer to join two sections of that diameter hose, so if your hose measures out to 5/16 inch inner diameter, it should fit right onto the barbs on both ends. Push the hose ends on fully and clamp them down and you've got yourself a solid, leak-free connection.

It's designed for joining hoses in industrial hydraulic systems, so that's its main application.
