pump's rated at 2000 RPM max -- does that mean it'll hold up running right at that speed for extended stretches, or is that more of a ceiling you don't want to push?

At 2000 RPM, you're at the top of the rated speed range for this pump. Running continuously at the ceiling isn't usually the best practice for any rotary equipment. For sustained duty cycles, staying a bit below that threshold gives you more breathing room on wear and heat buildup. The pump is built for high-speed, high-pressure work, but like anything mechanical, the closer you ride to the limits, the more you'll want to keep an eye on service intervals.
