pump says CCW rotation on the shaft end, just want to make sure I got that right before I go bolting it up. that mean looking at it from the back or the front?

Rotation direction on vane pumps is always called out from the shaft end, so you're looking straight at the end where the shaft sticks out. CCW on this one means the shaft turns counterclockwise when viewed from that end. Worth confirming before you couple it up, because running one of these backwards won't move fluid the way you need it to.

got a pump tag that reads 30VQ28A-1A20-L. is that the same unit you’re selling here?

Match the model number and it lines up. The pump is an Eaton Vickers 30VQ Series single vane pump with model 30VQ28A-1A20-L, 28 ring size, 5.5 displacement, CCW rotation, and a 7/8 straight keyed shaft.
