Banjo-style fittings work a little different than standard hydraulic connections. The banjo bolt threads into a port or mating component, while the banjo eye sits over it. So both M22 x 1.5 male callouts here refer to the threaded ends on each side of the fitting itself, not a male-to-female pairing like you'd see on a straight adapter. The 90-degree elbow shape lets you redirect the line at a right angle, which is real handy when you're working in a tight spot and need to change fluid direction without a lot of extra hardware.
