been running hydraulic valves on our harvester for years and always had to mess with external rectifiers, is that something this coil handles on its own?

Built right into the coil is an internal rectifier, so you can wire it straight to DC power without adding anything extra to the circuit. That cuts down on parts and simplifies the whole installation, which makes a real difference when you're working in a tight space or trying to keep the wiring clean on mobile equipment.
