Separated stages refers to a configuration where the pump stages are mechanically distinct from one another rather than being combined in a single shared housing arrangement. On the 2PE series, this is a defined design feature of the gear itself. The 312050329 is built specifically for that separated stage layout, so it is not interchangeable with drive gears intended for non-separated configurations even within the same pump family.
