rotation on this one is clockwise out of the box, but can it be swapped to run CCW if I need it to?

Clockwise is the default, but yes, the rotation can be changed. You do it by reversing the positions of the drive shaft and driven shaft, then rotating the front flange. It's a mechanical change rather than a software or valve adjustment, so plan accordingly when you're setting up your system.

What kind of pressure can this gear pump handle?

It's rated for continuous operation up to 3600 PSI. Peak pressures can go up to 4350 PSI.

got a bracket already drilled for a 2 bolt SAE A pump. is this one the right mount and shaft style for that kind of setup?

It uses a 2-bolt SAE A mounting flange and a 3/4 standard keyed SAE A shaft that is 1.25 inches long, so it matches the common SAE A 2-bolt mount and keyed shaft arrangement.

pump comes rated at 3600 PSI continuous -- what happens if the system spikes above that every now and then?

Peak pressure on this unit goes up to 4350 PSI, so occasional spikes above the 3600 PSI continuous rating are within what the pump is built to handle. The DU bearings and floating bushing design are part of what makes that possible. That said, intermittent means just that -- short-duration spikes, not sustained high-pressure operation. Keep the system running at or below 3600 PSI for normal work and you'll be in good shape.

For fit-up, it uses a 2-bolt SAE A mounting flange and a 3/4 inch straight keyed SAE A shaft that is 1.25 inches long.
