what exactly is a "close" nipple compared to a regular pipe nipple? trying to figure out if this is what I need for a tight spot on my hydraulic line
Question by: Keith H on May 5, 2025, 5:30 PM
A close nipple is threaded along its entire length with no unthreaded section in the middle. That means it pulls two fittings as close together as physically possible, which is exactly what you want when there's barely any room between two ports or couplings. If your setup has a little more clearance and you need to span a gap, you'd want a short or long nipple instead. For a genuinely tight spot, though, the close nipple is the right call.

need a real short 1/4 inch nipple for a tight spot, is this the close one?
Question by: Shane P on Sep 16, 2025, 10:50 AM
As a close pipe nipple with a 1/4 inch connection, it’s meant for situations where you need the shortest nipple style to join two threaded connections in a compact space.
