what exactly does a reducer bushing like this do in a hydraulic setup? trying to wrap my head around whether it replaces a whole fitting or just adapts the port size

Port size mismatches come up constantly in hydraulic work, and this bushing handles that without stacking extra fittings on top of each other. The SPRB-12-8 threads into a larger port and gives you a smaller opening on the other end, so a 1-inch threaded port can accept a 3/4-inch component directly. Manifolds and valve bodies are probably the most common places you'd drop one of these in, though any industrial fluid system with mismatched thread sizes is fair game.

got a 1 inch port but the part i need to screw in is 3/4. is this the right bushing for that?
