pump says it's field reversible, how hard is that to actually do in the field, or is it more of a one-time setup thing?

Changing rotation direction on this unit doesn't require swapping it out for a different pump, which is the main advantage. It's meant to be done during installation or when reconfiguring equipment, so it's more of a setup step than something you'd be flipping back and forth on a regular basis. Handy when you're putting it on a machine that runs the opposite direction from what you originally planned for.

Will this gear pump hold up on my tractor, running most of the day?

This Series 26 pump is built for continuous-duty circuits, so it should be suitable for extended use in tractors and harvesters. Just be sure to stay within the specified temperature range of -20°C.
