pump says field reversible direction on here, what exactly does that mean for somebody swapping this onto a different machine?

Reversing the rotation on most gear pumps means tearing into the internals or ordering a separate unit built for the opposite direction. With this one, you can change the pump's rotation direction right in the field without special tooling or sending it out. If the machine you're moving it to runs the drive shaft the opposite way from your last setup, you just make the adjustment on site and you're good to go.
