pump says it's field reversible, how hard is that to actually do on the job, and does it need any special parts to switch direction?

Reversing the rotation on this pump is built to be done in the field without sourcing extra components. The design accounts for direction changes as part of normal installation flexibility, so you're not looking at a parts order or a shop teardown to make it work for your circuit configuration. That said, you'll want to make sure your porting and hydraulic connections match the new flow direction before you button everything back up.
