got a tractor with a steering circuit, would this Cessna gear pump make sense for that kind of setup?
Question by: Hubert H on Nov 11, 2025, 9:40 AM
For steering circuits, this pump is commonly used in mobile equipment like tractors and harvesters, and steering circuits are called out as a typical application. It is an external gear pump in the Danfoss and Eaton Series 26 family under the Eaton Char-Lynn brand.

pump says it's field reversible, how hard is that to actually do, or is it something you need special tools for?
Question by: Bobby W on Dec 21, 2025, 3:02 PM
Reversing the rotation on this pump is meant to be done in the field without a lot of fuss. It's a feature built into the Series 26 design specifically so operators and mechanics can make that change without sending the unit out for service. You won't need exotic tooling for it. That said, you'll want to make sure your port orientation and inlet/outlet hydraulic connections get adjusted to match the new rotation direction before firing it back up.
