pump says it's field reversible, what does that actually mean for somebody swapping it onto a machine that ran the opposite direction?

Rotation direction on gear pumps matters because the internal porting is set up to pull fluid from one side and push it out the other. Field reversible means you can change that flow direction on-site without sending the pump back or ordering a mirrored unit. On the Series 26, that adjustment can be made during installation to match whatever circuit you're working with, so if the machine you're replacing ran a different rotation you're not stuck.

got a tractor with a front pump setup, is this one meant for that kind of work or more for shop machines
