I see this pump is used in tractors and such. Would it work on a mower, specifically a rotary mower?

pump says field reversible -- does that mean I can swap the rotation direction myself without sending it out somewhere?

Yes, rotation direction can be changed in the field without special tooling or sending the unit back to a shop. That feature is built into the Series 26 design, so if your system setup requires a different rotation than what you initially installed, you can make that adjustment on site. Just make sure your inlet and outlet porting are correctly oriented for the new rotation before putting it back into service.

trying to swap out an old gear pump, is this one basically a Danfoss or Eaton Series 26?

Functionally, it is a Series 26 external gear pump sold under the Eaton Char-Lynn name and tied to Danfoss Power Solutions. It is the Series 26 style gear pump family.
