Does this pump work on a reel mower setup, or is it more of a heavy equipment thing?

Reel mowers are actually one of the listed applications for this pump, right alongside rotary mowers, so you're in good shape there. It also covers lift trucks, fan drive systems, compactors, sweepers, and steering circuits, so it handles a pretty wide range of equipment. Not strictly a heavy iron pump and not strictly light duty either.
