got a steering circuit on a piece of equipment, is this pump the kind folks usually run for that?

pump says it's field reversible, how hard is that to actually do in the field, or is it more of a shop job?

Reversing the rotation on this pump is genuinely meant to be done without sending it out. The Series 26 design allows direction change without specialized tooling, so a competent mechanic with basic shop skills can handle it on site. It's not a tear-down-and-rebuild situation.
