pump says it's field reversible, how hard is that to actually do in the field, or is it more of a "send it back" kind of thing?

Field reversible on these Series 26 gear pumps means the rotation direction can be changed without sending the unit out. It's a real feature, not just a spec line. For equipment that gets repurposed or moved between different drive configurations, that flexibility saves a fair amount of time and hassle on the shop floor.
