got a mower setup with an auxiliary work circuit, is this pump meant for that kind of job?

For equipment with auxiliary work circuits, this Series 26 external gear pump is a common fit, and it is also used in rotary and reel mowers, tractors and harvesters, and other mobile hydraulic applications.

pump says it's field reversible, how hard is that to actually do, or is it somethin you'd need a shop for?

Reversing the rotation on this pump is meant to be done in the field without major disassembly or specialized tooling. It's a feature built into the Series 26 design specifically so operators and mechanics can handle direction changes on-site when a circuit calls for it. If you're reasonably comfortable working with hydraulic components, it's a manageable job.
