runs on a fair number of pieces of equipment around here, tractors, mowers, lift trucks. this pump supposed to handle that kind of variety or is it built more for one specific setup?

Pretty broad range of equipment is exactly what this pump was built around. The Series 26 covers tractors and harvesters, rotary and reel mowers, lift trucks, compactors, sweepers, machine tools, and auxiliary work circuits among others. So if you're rotating it across different machines on a regular basis, that's well within what it was designed to do.
