pump says it's field reversible, what does that actually mean for someone swapping it into an existing setup?

Reversible pump direction means you can change which way the pump rotates without pulling a different unit off the shelf. On a lot of gear pumps that's a fixed thing from the factory, so if your system runs the shaft a certain direction, you're either stuck or ordering a mirrored model. With this one, you've got flexibility to match the rotation your setup calls for right in the field. That makes it a lot easier to drop in as a replacement without worrying about whether the drive direction lines up.
