Wondering if this thing can handle cold weather, I'm up in Minnesota.

This Danfoss/Eaton gear pump is rated for a minimum working temperature of -20°C, so it should hold up just fine in colder climates.

pump says it's field reversible - does that mean I can swap rotation direction myself without sending it out somewhere?

field reversible means you can change the rotation direction on-site without shipping it off for rework. That's a real time-saver when you're swapping it into a circuit that runs the opposite direction from what the previous pump did. No need for a shop to touch it.
