pump says it's field reversible, does that mean I can swap the rotation direction myself without sending it back or getting a tech out here?

Yeah, the direction can be reversed in the field, so you won't need to ship it out or wait on a service call. That reversibility is built into the design specifically so operators can reconfigure it on-site to match their setup.
