pump says it's field reversible - how hard is that actually to do out in the field without pulling the whole unit?

Reversing the rotation direction on this pump is meant to be done without a full teardown. The Series L2 design allows direction changes in the field, which is a real time-saver when a machine gets reconfigured or a replacement goes in where the original ran the opposite way. You won't need to source a different unit just because the inlet and outlet positions don't match your setup out of the box.
