Got a line running 7/8-14 female JIC on one end and 3/4-16 male JIC on the other, this the right piece to bridge that?

That's what this reducer is built for. One end is a 7/8-14 female JIC SAE 37 degree flare, the other is a 3/4-16 male JIC SAE 37 degree flare, both meeting SAE J514 spec. If those are your thread sizes, this is the correct fit.

For stepping between JIC 37 degree flare sizes, this part is set up with a 7/8-14 Female JIC SAE 37 degree flare on one end and a 3/4-16 Male JIC SAE 37 degree flare on the other, both to SAE J514.
