got a hose end that’s 9/16-18 JIC, and the port i need to hit is 3/8-18 NPTF. is this the right straight adapter for that?

For connecting a male JIC SAE 37 degree flare to a male NPTF, this adapter matches those exact thread sizes: 9/16-18 on the JIC flare side (SAE J514) and 3/8-18 on the NPTF side (SAE J476). It is a straight brass 2404 series fitting.
