That's correct. This is a straight adapter, meaning both ends share the same 9/16-18 size and male JIC SAE 37-degree flare thread type, as specified by SAE J514.

For joining two JIC flare connections straight through, it uses male JIC SAE 37 degree flare threads on both ends, and both sides are 9/16-18 per SAE J514.

Got a hydraulic line running 9/16-18 JIC fittings on both ends and need to union them together. This the right part for that?

That's what this fitting is built for. Both ends are male JIC with a 37-degree flare and a 9/16-18 thread, so it'll bridge two female JIC connections on the same line. Just make sure both your hose ends or port connections are female JIC to match up correctly.
