got a hose end with 3/8-24 JIC on it. is this union the right deal to join two male JIC ends together?

Function-wise, it is a straight MJIC union with male JIC SAE 37 degree flare threads on both ends, and both ends are 3/8-24 per SAE J514. That means it is made to connect into two matching female JIC 37 degree flare fittings, not to directly couple two male JIC ends together.
