Got two male JIC ends that need joining up and ain't got a female coupler in the mix, this the right piece for that situation?

That's what this union is built for. Both ends are 5/16-24 male JIC with a 37-degree flare, so it bridges two male fittings of the same size without needing a female connection in between. As long as you're working with #2 JIC tubing on both sides, this is your part.

For a straight inline hook-up, it joins two same-size Male JIC SAE 37 degree flare ends. Both sides are 5/16-24 threads and built to SAE J514, so it matches a #2 JIC male-to-male connection.
