Will this adapter hold up if I'm using it in a chemical plant environment?

Dura-Kote plating gives this adapter good corrosion resistance, so it should be suitable for chemical processing applications.

got a 1/4 female pipe port on a valve and need to go to a 3 JIC line, is this the right adapter?

For that kind of hookup, it matches what you described. One end is 1/4 NPTF female pipe thread, and the other end is a 3/8 SAE 37 degree flare male (often called 3 MJIC).
