These reusable fittings, do they actually hold up after you take 'em apart and put 'em back together a few times, or do they start leaking on you?

Carbon steel construction keeps the fitting solid through multiple disassembly and reassembly cycles without losing connection integrity. That's kind of the whole point of the 1R series reusable design. You're not locked into cutting off and replacing the fitting every time you need to pull a line. Just make sure you're working clean and seating it properly each time and it'll do its job.
