does this fitting work with a -4 hose size, or do i need something different for that application?

For a -4 hose, this is the right dash size. The 1GA4MP4 is built specifically for -4 hose assemblies, so you won't need to hunt down a different part for that connection. The male end is a 1/4 inch NPTF thread, and the hex on the hose side measures 0.5625 inches, so make sure your crimp tooling and hose selection line up with those dimensions before you put it together.
