Does this fitting work for general hydraulic lines, or is it more of a specialty part?

General purpose low and medium pressure hydraulic systems are exactly what this fitting is built for. It uses a male SAE inverted flare swivel end, so it connects to standard inverted flare line or hose ends on a -6 dash size hose. The carbon steel body with Dura-Kote plating gives it solid corrosion resistance for everyday shop and field use. Just keep in mind that if your application has shock hazards, Eaton recommends using H277 or H435 series fittings instead of this one.
