What exactly is this thing made of, and is it gonna hold up in a wet or corrosive environment?

316 stainless steel is the material throughout, which is one of the better choices when moisture, chemicals, or general corrosion are a concern. That grade of SS has solid resistance to rust and degradation in harsh industrial conditions, so it should hold up well in environments where a carbon steel fitting would start giving you trouble over time.

got a quick one, is this swivel strictly a mechanical fitting or does it have any electrical bits on it

Purely mechanical. It does not include color coding diodes or any electrical elements.
