what's this fitting made of, and is it gonna hold up in a corrosive environment?

Carbon steel with Dura-Kote plating, which gives it better corrosion resistance than a plain steel fitting. For general purpose low and medium pressure hydraulic work, that combination holds up well. Just keep in mind that if your system runs into shock conditions, Aeroquip recommends going with an H277 or H435 hose instead of pairing this with a standard setup.
